学术 住宿

The Disability Resource Center provides access, 住宿, and advocacy for UNC students who have documented disabilities. 学术 needs are determined by the documentation and a student interview. 学生 seeking 住宿 should contact our office at 970-351-2289 to schedule an appointment with a staff member. 这 is regardless of whether they have ever used 住宿 before, have a recent or older diagnosis, or just want to learn more about possible academic 住宿. Any documentation can be submitted prior to or at this meeting (see Documentation Guidelines for more detailed information). If you do not yet have documentation, we can also try to connect you with the correct resources, both on and off campus.

How the Disability Resource Center Evaluates and Responds to Requests for 学术 住宿

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at UNC engages in a collaborative and interactive process with its students individually to determine appropriate 住宿.  学术 needs are determined by documentation submitted by the student and a student interview.  As part of the interactive process, when necessary, DRC will seek information from faculty about the academic requirements essential to the course 或程序 for which the student seeks an accommodation, any licensure requirements directly related to course 或程序, and other relevant information specific to nature of the course 或程序.  When doing so, DRC will inquire of faculty the academic requirements (or the licensing requirements) that are essential to the course 或程序. 这 information is used to inform the decision of DRC about whether, after considering other alternatives and their feasibility, cost, and effect on the academic course 或程序, the requested accommodation (or alternative 住宿 (if any)) would result in lowering academic standards and/or involve a fundamental alteration of the course 或程序. DRC will document its conclusions regarding such 住宿.
